Dr Lizbeth GoodmanPosted in Past Events on April 20th, 2004When: Thurs 22nd April -2004 http://www.artrage.com.au/bakery Dr Lizbeth Goodman, Director of the SMARTlab Centre at Central St Martins College of Art and Design , the London Institute, will describe her innovative work in using in making and sustaining connected communities in and beyond the classroom. As her profile (below) shows, her work is of interest to professionals in the medical world, community work and the theatre, as well as in education. This lecture demonstration will include extracts from a range of projects underway in rehabilitation using drama, dance, music and assistive technology, and in the creation of games and alternative interfaces and story forms to connect communities and extend accessibility to the ‘knowledge economy’. She will show extracts from performances and assistive technology projects recently produced and underway, and will invite collaboration on future projects. Profile of Dr Lizbeth Goodman Dr Lizbeth Goodman is Founder and Director of the SMARTlab Centre for Site Specific Media, Performing and Digital Arts (connecting SMARTsystems, spaces & people). Operating from its central London base since the summer of 2001, the lab is a research centre and production facility for media arts, utilised by an international group of associate research fellows and artists in residence, supported by a core team on site. The team includes live artists, performers, dance and movement specialists, visual artists, filmmakers, photographers, sculptors, textile experts, fashion designers, poets/writers, composers/musicians, sound artists, VR engineers, programmers, game designers and coders, and interface designers. It team operates across genres, disciplinary and cultural boundaries, and aims to create ethically and socially responsible media art works, and to inform the next generation of artist-made technology tools.commissions to create a new style of empowering online and live performance game, and to work on convergent media publishing projects utilising and inventing new interfaces for the world’s many varied communities.
